She uses Luke's ghost-hunting equipment to record EVPs in various places around the hotel. She padlocks the door and returns inside. Claire hears noises coming from the hotel's garage, where there is a door leading to the basement. Claire waves to her, but Leanne ignores her and moves away from the window without acknowledging her. The following night, while taking out the garbage, Claire notices Leanne watching from her hotel window. While delivering towels to her room, Claire is starstruck and has an awkward encounter with Leanne, who is initially relatively cold toward her.

That afternoon, Luke checks in an older woman, whom Claire recognizes as Leanne Rease-Jones ( Kelly McGillis), a former actress who is in town for an unnamed convention. Both are ghost hunting enthusiasts and are fascinated by the hotel's supposedly haunted history, which includes the legend of Madeline O'Malley, a bride who hanged herself in the 1800s when her fiancé 'jilted her at the altar' and whose body was supposedly hidden in the basement by the hotel owners. Claire, who suffers from severe asthma, has recently dropped out of college, and Luke runs a website chronicling the hotel's supposed hauntings.

Claire and Luke are the only employees working during its final weekend of operation. Claire ( Sara Paxton) and Luke ( Pat Healy) are two young employees at the Yankee Pedlar Inn, a once-grand hotel that is about to close. When John arrives in the farm, he discovers that there is the danger of infection of human beings and decides to quarantine the spot. However, one of them escapes and attacks a cow first and Jamie later. During the autopsy of the animal, she discovers that the fetus is pregnant and she destroys the freak hybrids.

When the offspring is born, it bites Dan Orla arrives later and realizes that it is a genetic anomaly and she sacrifices the calf.

During the night, the cow has a narrow passage for the calf, and Dan asks the young couple Jamie and Mary that is parked in a trailer in front of his farm's entrance to help him in the delivery. The veterinarian Orla is bitten by the calf while helping the cow to deliver, and she feels that something went wrong with the experiment. The broken farmer Dan rents his farm for the scientist John from the Bovine Genetics Technology that is researching genetic modifications of cattle to increase its fertilization.
